Default windows media audio files/burning problems

I have ripped cd's onto my hard drive as window media audio files. when i
burn them to cd they do not play properly on certain cd players. Is there a
way to convert the files to another form more conducive to burning or use
another program to burn them. Have tried Nero, and windows media. Thanks in
advance!
