I have found some tags that will not allow me to change their value with
SetItemInfo. The ones I am trying to set are specific to the CD, not the song. What I hope to accomplish is to re-link 3000 song (wav files) back to their original album(CD). I have gone through every track1 from all 3000 songs, and have chosen the correct album(CD) that matches that song and then let it update album information. I was trying to then use the values assigned to song1 of an album to then reset the values for the other songs on that specific album(CD). But some of the tags will not let me reset them (even though I have "FULL" access rights set.) This process worked great to allow me to read my files directory structure and create the tags for Author, AlbumID, Title and, WM/Track. But this is not enough for the playing-song to do a web-lookup and show the album cover art (for example). It did allow me to make playlists and get the songs loaded to a portable device with artist/album/song structure, instead of 3000 unknown songs. --- but now, I want to go one step further --- Values given below happen to be from Rush's 2112 CD Ripped on this PC. Tag name: "WM/MCDI" - Appears to be unique to the album. 6+B7+16B57+1AA2A+1E49A+228CB+267A8+2ADD5 "WM/MediaClassPrimaryID" - Appears to have the same value if the original media was CD no matter which CD was played. Or it could be the CD-ROM drive, I am unsure. {D1607DBC-E323-4BE2-86A1-48A42A28441E} "WM/MediaClassSecondaryID" - Same comment as the PrimaryID {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000} "WM/Provider" - Assumed to be the database ID that the other keys go with... AMG "WM/ProviderRating" - an integer number, it appears to be the same for each song on a given album(CD) 8 "WM/Publisher" - Same for all songs on an album(CD) Mercury "WM/UniqueFileIdentifier" - this one appears to be the magic key required. Every song has its unique key. So I don't intend to programatically set this one. It will have to be updated upon a lookup after the specific album and track/title has been identified. Only the last part of this seems to be song specific. AMGa_id=R 17123;AMGp_id=P 5323;AMGt_id=T 1528576 "WM/WMCollectionGroupID" - This one appears to be the same for all songs on a specific album(CD) {2DA7B8ED-4FBB-48FF-A22B-F10CAD4564D9} "WM/WMCollectionID" - Appears to be the exact same as the ...GroupID {2DA7B8ED-4FBB-48FF-A22B-F10CAD4564D9} "WM/WMContentID" - Appears to be unique to each song (Like the WM/UniqueFileIdentifier tag is specific to the song) {3D8E47ED-67DA-4B3A-B16B-C3F0E704D3FC} The formats of these tags seem to be highly specific, and unique only for AMG database lookups. Since I am using only WMP10 shouldn't I be able to at least narrow the search to an album(CD) for each of the songs that "should" then have only 1 match in the database for that CD instead of having every release of any song that happens to have the same name. Even If I then have to pick (manual mouse click) the album to update; that would be much-much-MUCH easier than scrolling and hunting for 3000 songs (minus 1 for each seperate CD... which I already did the gruelling task of playing select-a-album) Perhaps there some special routine or method to use that will set all of the AMG database required fields? All thoughts are welcome ![]() -- Regards, John |
