Can anyone help me please!! My cd rom doesn't seem to be reading but the dvd
is working fine. When I put a cd in the green light comes on, it makes a noise then just starts flashing and doesn't read it. The device manager says its working properly so Im a bit lost. I was using it yesterday copying some cd's and it was fine, then I tried to burn a cd and the message it keep getting is insert a cd or cd/rw, but I have. Please anyone!!! |

Do you mean you have a separate CD and DVD player ? If so, clean the lens of the CD player with a special CD lens cleaner. Try the same CD in both units. If the DVD player reads it and the CD player doesn't, then its probably knackered. Bin it, you don't really need both. Or buy another. Cheers, Jerry |

I have exactly the same issue my Sony CDRW-DVDROM combo drive will play DVDs
but not recognise data or audio CDs. In troubleshooting my computer also tells me my device is working properly. The error report tells me that on Jan 1st: The device,\ Device\ CDRom0, has a bad block. Unfortunately it does not tell me how to fix this. Any ideas anyone?
