I have a small network (20 users (static ip's) that we just upgraded from
Win2000 workstations to WinXP workstations. The problem is that when we try and connect to a share on a server (2000 or 2003) intially the connection takes about 30sec. After the intial connect, the connection to the share is instantanious fro about 30 min. I realize the that the connection times out after a certain period of time. But my question is why is it taking so long to make the intial connection. With the old Win 2000 workstations connections were instant to the servers. Any help is greatly appreciated. |

Problems like this are usually caused by misconfigured DNS. The server should only look to itself for DNS with forward lookup zones created. Workstations should only look to the server for DNS.
