I have a LINKSYS BESFR41 v2.0 router (wired) with an Ericsson Pipe Rider
cable modem. There are two PCs on the network. Up until a week ago
everything worked fine, we could access the internet share each other's
files and printers. About a week ago, we lost the ability to share, however
we can both still access the internet. I've double checked the physical
connections but have found nothing amiss. Since we both can still access
the internet via these connections, they appear solid.

When I try to add a new connection, I can add connections from my machine,
however I cannot add connections from the other machine. When on the other
machine, I can add local connection but not connections from the other
machine.

I've been working on this for a week and I'm sure that I'm missing something
that may be obvious to others. Any proposed solutions will be greatly
appreciated.

Are both machines in the same workgroup?

What type of connection are you adding? Your computers connect via a
local area network connection, and you can't add that type of
connection.

Without more information about your setup and what happens when you
try to share, it's hard to say what's wrong.

Make sure that a firewall program isn't blocking access on either
computer. Run the Network Setup Wizard. If it finds the router's
shared Internet connection, tell it to use that. Otherwise, tell it
that the computers connect to the Internet through a residential
gateway (router). If it asks whether to enable file and printer
sharing, say "yes".
