Hello everybody,
I have an wired network between 2 pc's. 1 running server2003 and the other one running windows XP. When I'm copying large file's from one computer to the other one (trough 100 mbit lan) the cpu of the windows xp machine (800 mHz) is running up to 100% and network usage is 70%. I tried to disable firewall and virusscan, but that didn't effect the CPU, it still stays at ceiling level. Does anyone know how to speed up my network traffic?? Kind regards, Jasper. |

Jasper, get a better Ethernet adapter. It is probably using too many interrupts and too much time to service them. What make is it? Is the proper driver installed, latest version? One indication that this is true is that, if you enable to view the kernel times in Task Manager, much of the processor time is kernel time. Hans-Georg -- No mail, please. |
