I am having an unusual problem with a home network i have setup.
I have 1 PC running Win98SE and the other PC running WinXP Pro. Both connect into a 4port HUB, using CAT4 or 5 cable. Both are set to "WORKGROUP" etc and i can access Win98's Shared files/folders from the WinXP PC, But i cant access the WinXP's folders from the Win98 PC. I can play Network games against the 2 computers but only if the Win98 PC creates the game. I have installed the WinXP network stuff onto the Win98 machine as well. I was told the XP Firewall could be causing this. If so how do i turn it off? and are there any other things i need to do/change. Thanks in advance. |

If there's a third party firewall, maybe one packaged with your antivirus, disable WF and configure the third party product. If neither suggestion is useful, continue with in the list in my article: <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/10/irregularities-in-workgroup-visibility.html> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/1...isibility.html -- Cheers, Chuck, MS-MVP [Windows - Networking] http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/ Paranoia is not a problem, when it's a normal response from experience.
