Hi,
I am having trouble accessing some shared folders when connected to a remote computer via VPN on Windows XP Pro. Others have connected to the same remote machine and can see and access the shared folders, so there must be a problem with my network setup at home. My machine is behind my linksys router which assigns IP's in a range I have specified which is 204.64.0.1 onwards, so my machine is assigned 204.64.0.2, the remote machine I am connected to is behind an ADSL modem and has a private static IP of 192.168.0.1. The rmeote machine's VPN conenction has been configured to 'allow connecting computers to specify own ip address'. When I am connected via VPN the remote computer can see me on the network but cannot see my shared folders, and I can't access the remote machines by using \\machinename or \\ipaddress or map a network drive etc. The remote machine is not part of a domain but is part of a workgroup called 'WORKGROUP'. I have set up my local computer so it is part of the same workgroup but when I click 'view computers in my workgroup' it does not list any others. So my question is, why can I not see the shared folders on the remote machine when connected via VPN when other people can? Thanks for any help with this. Lachlan |
