I've had this problem recently where i go to 'my network places' ---> 'setup
a home or office network' in the past this would bring up the wizard. but now, nothing happens. the wizard does not come up nor is there an error message. the network worked before and I was able to send files over it . both computers are Using XP and are connected through a router. The internet connection is still working. btw i found this problem as the 'shared' folder on one or both of the computers just dissapears. usually i would run the wizard again to setup the network but now, it doesn't run and i can't get any files over. |

yes i've seen that article before and used it to setup the network. but now i
can't get into the wizard. I'm the admin of the comp (in fact the only user). pressing the 'Network Connections' does nothing. nothing starts up. You can run a repair installation to repair the wizard, but in your situation it may be better anyway to do without the wizard and change the few settings by hand. To solve the actual problem, fill in the form at http://winhlp.com/wxnet.htm and read the resulting text thoroughly. Hans-Georg -- No mail, please. |

I think in your situation you don't really want or need to use the wizard anyway. If you want to make a change to the settings, make it directly without using the wizard. If your network doesn't work, use the Network Problem Solver in http://winhlp.com/ . You can also use System Restore to roll your computer back to a point when it still worked, if available. I already used the Network Problem Solver............
I can't restore to an earlier date(somehow the manufacturer forgot to set it to create restores so when i went to take a look there were no restores) And i don't know how to make changes without the wizard lol. I wish people would take computers back when essential functions don't work. Oh well ... As to the Network Problem Solver, if that didn't solve your problem, we have an interesting case, because it is rare. Could you fill in the form again, then copy the Selections line at the end of the form, just above the three buttons, and post it here? Hans-Georg -- No mail, please. |

>Selections: wireless=1 os=1 portable=1 ip=1 computers_or_shares_missing=1 Have you read the advice and worked through the selected chapters? They will fix the problem. You haven't filled the form completely. I have no more advice at this point. If you solve your problem and the solution is not in http://winhlp.com/wxnet.htm , I would be very interested in it.
