Default Can Not Ping

I have a local network and two compluters can not talk to each other.

Both computers are XP professional SP2 and one is a laptop and one is a desktop. Laptop has dynamic IP and desktop has a static IP

I can ping the desktop from the laptop, but I can't ping laptop from the desktop (by IP or by name). Firewall is turned off on both computers.
I have tried making both systems static IP and got same results.

What can I check or do to fix this problem?

Thanks

Peter

Peter,

check http://winhlp.com/ and go to the Network Problem Solver.

Peter,

thank you too for reporting back. It's always good to know what
it was.
