I am having trouble setting up my network. I have a desktop running Windows
XP Home with a wirless router hooked up to the ethernet. The laptop has a wireless running Windows xp Media Center 2005. The internet works fine on both computers. I have run the network setup wizard so i can share files on between computers. I used all the same names and same account settings. I tried a ping and it was fine. I have automatic IP detection set up for the protocol. Error: On the laptop when i try to access the MSHOME network it says it is unavailable and "List of servers for this workgroup is not currently available". On the desktop it says unavailable and "network path was not found." The desktop shows both computers listed under MSHOME but the laptop shows neither. I tried disabling firewalls. Any help ? I am deperate. |

I am deperate. Firewalls are but one possible cause; but if one is the cause, mere disabling may not be the answer. Read all linked articles from this one: <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/10/irregularities-in-workgroup-visibility.html> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/1...isibility.html -- Cheers, Chuck, MS-MVP [Windows - Networking] http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/ Paranoia is not a problem, when it's a normal response from experience.
