Default problems setting up a home network

i have been trying in vain to get a home network set up. i am running
2 desktops both XP Pro SP2. i bought a netgear WGR614 router, and want
to setup a wired network, everything seems to go fine everytime i have
run the network set up wizard (i stopped counting at 30 times) i have
been reading on this and other NGs and have gone thru all the
suggested fixes.............none of the folders i want to share show
up in metwork places. the Name of my workgroup does show in "microsoft
windows network" but when i try to access the work group in network
places i get the dreaded "workgroup is not accessable. you might not
have permission to use this network resource. bla, bla, bla" i am
administrator on both computers, and sole user of both. when searching
for answers i D/Ld and installed Network Magic, it sees both puters,
and all shared files on both, but they are unavailable for me to use
in windows. PLEASE what am i doing wrong.

TIA

Gene

Gene,

The error "...not accessable...not have permission..." can have many causes.
You have to start by making sure you have connectivity, then look at visibility,
and finally permissions.

Please go thru that article in sequence. It will link to my main
troubleshooting article.
