Default VPN Error 619 Port is disconnected

Hi there:

I have a user that is running XP pro, has high speed cable modem and a
netgear router in place at her home. She connects to a VPN Router at the
office in California. I can ping the router, I can get to the internet from
her system. She cannot connect to the VPN Router without getting the 619
port disconnected error. Windows Firewall is turned off, she has no
AntiVirus Security software installed which I verified. I have removed the
VPN Connection and reinstalled it. I have tested her login and password from
my workstation and it connects fine.

Do you think it could be her ISP??? I can take the her router out of the
loop to make sure it isn't her router causing the problem.

What else do you suggest???

Rebecca

Is her router properly configured for VPN pass though? If so -
This problem is sometimes caused by another online process interfering with
the connection. I have specifically seen it caused by attempting to connect
to a VPN with AOL IM running, for example. She should close any such
programs before connecting to the VPN. I have also serviced this error more
than once where Spyware parasites running in the background were the root
cause.
There have been cases of ISP's blocking VPN access, but it's not common with
broadband providers these days. An MTU issue is another possible, though
rare, cause.

Thank you for the suggestions. I will try them shortly. Do you think
removing the router altogether and testing the isp connection directly would
narrow down the root problem???

You're welcome. Testing without the router is a good idea to eliminate it
as a possible cause. I would be reluctant to connect directly to the cable
modem without at least the Windows firewall enabled though.
