Hi,
I believe this to be a security issue for XP but can't be sure. I run 3 XP machines in a NT 4 (SP6a) domain. Two of them have been on the domain since just after XP was released and worked fine until SP 2. After XP 2, I couldn't get the machines to talk to each other. It was a while ago, but I think I got an answer that worked here. I added a third machine a while ago and just updated it to SP-2, and the problem is back. The third machine cannot talk to any other machine, and though the rest of the machines play well with each other, none of them can access the third. The third one did work (before SP-2). All machines except the Domain Server are XP Pro. All machines log into the domain at startup, and the newer machine reports no logon problems and can ping the DHcp and WinS. However it can only see itself in Network places and no other machine can see it. I'm also certain it isn't a hardware problem because I use this machine mostly on the internet through the same switch as the LAN is on Any help appreciated. David |

But there are several other possibilities too. If you have a domain involved, you need to be aware of domain specific issues. Then look at general browser issues. <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/windows-xp-on-nt-domain.html> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/0...nt-domain.html <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/10/irregularities-in-workgroup-visibility.html> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/1...isibility.html <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/04/nt-browser-or-why-cant-i-always-see.html> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/0...lways-see.html If no help yet, provide "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from each computer, so we can diagnose the problem objectively.
