Hi,
I have a dual boot system. Two times XP (1 Home and 1 Pro). One is my primary where I am most of the time. But sometimes I compose music and that is very processor and RAM and everything-intensive, so I would like to limit my second OS to this purpose only and thus limit the system footprint by not having anything else installed under this OS. I.e. no memory resident programs such as antivirus and firewall either. But that means I should disable Internet access altogether for this secondary OS to be sure not to get infected even though the Internet cable remains plugged in under my desk (I am not going to unplug it every time because eventually I will forget). How can I disable all external access Internet etc under XP Home or Pro (have not decided which OS shall be my music production OS) ? My computer is standalone and I have no LAN at home. Thanks! |

Peter,
You can disable the network card that way it won't matter if it is connected or not. right click on my computer icon, click on properties click on hardware tab click on device manager expand network adapters right click on your network adapter and click on disable it should refresh the screen automatically and you will see the network card icon with a red X appear now. That's all you need to disable the network. Also if you plan to only do music, disable all the services that you really don't need. go to control panel, administative tools, services and check which ones should you leave on automatic or put on manual. check this page for some tips http://www.windowsitpro.com/Windows/...722/40722.html hope this helps, Rafael "Peter" <Peter@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:F31EFC7C-11A5-4E96-9901-7249F6E1F6F1@microsoft.com... > Hi, > > I have a dual boot system.
