Default Networking XP to Win 2000

Hi there,

Just set up a new network for my desktop and laptop. Trying to access files
on a 2nd desktop which (unlike the former two) runs Windows 2000, not XP. No
matter what I do, I can't get my primary XP desktop to FIND the Windows 2000
desktop on the network. Help!

Thanks!

Dan

Default RE: Networking XP to Win 2000

Dan here again,

Some progress, some confusion.
My laptop (XP) can now locate and communicate with the Windows 2000 desktop.
Neither one, however, can locate the XP desktop, nor can the XP desktop
locate them. What's going on??

Dan,

A misconfigured or overlooked firewall is the most common problem here, but
there are other possibilities. What antivirus product are you using?

Please provide "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from each computer, as a
start. Read this article, and linked articles, and follow instructions
precisely:
