Help Please!
I am trying to access my webspace using ftp, but cannot connect. I have tried two programs, ftp commander and ws ftp pro. With both I get a connect failure message. With ftp commander it usually just keeps trying to connect, sometimes I get the message "winsock error 10061. Same happens if I try to access ftp sites which were already loaded into the program when installed - so I am not just getting the address wrong. If I alter the ftp server name so deliberately wrong I get a different error message. Windows firewall is turned off. Mcafee firewall is configured to allow the ftp programs to send and receive and port 21 has been ticked to allow to be used. Looking at event log of firewall no incoming requests for accesss were denied. Any ideas please |

Access was already set to passive mode. Tried setting ftp mode to binary in ftp commander, didn't work Thanks anyway! ws ftp gives message "connecting to 83.170.64.86:21 Connect failure" I suspect this means it is something to do with accessing port 21 "Benedictum" wrote: > try setting access to passive mode and ftp mode to binary. > > "ridcully22" <ridcully22@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:8B5150B6-3D9D-4833-AD6B-EFAE3C0137A7@microsoft.com... > > Help Please! > > I am trying to access my webspace using ftp, but cannot connect. > > I have tried two programs, ftp commander and ws ftp pro.
