Default XP and Home networking issue

I have a HP Desktop with XP Prof ( with Norton Firewall) and a Dell desktop
running XP Home ( with MS Windowsa Firewall). The are connected to a wired
network through a Netgear DG834 which is acting as a network hub and
broadbank connectivity.
have set up a home network and been able to get both machines accessing the
internet, both machines acessing a printer, the Dell can also see files on
the HP.
My problem is that I cannot see the Dell from the HP - when I try to enquire
on the network places I can see the HP but not the Dell but I have
repeatedly set up the Dell on the Home network. When I enquire on the Dell on
network places I can see both machines - when I enquire on the HP I can only
see the HP.

Any advice on what to do
Thanks
Mel

Mel,

Visibility problems like yours are generally caused by a misconfigured or
overlooked personal firewall, but there could be other causes too.

Paranoia is not a problem, when it's a normal response from experience.
