Default Infamous Error 5 Access denied

Hi,

Can't see the folders shared on a SBS 2003 (domain controller) , from
one client machine,, but I'm able to do that from another; both are
winXP Pro. Everytime I double click on the server icon (in the network
explorer) I am asked for a user name and a password, and asked again,
without any error.

While in the other machine after insert the user and the password I'm
able to see the folders shared and read or write in those folders as I
expected (in accordance with the ACL list on the server).

Both client machines have equal network config (checked with ipconfig
/all, differences only in mac address and IP address).

Both can resolve the server IP address.

In the firewall there is an exception configured to allow "Share files
and printers"

When I try to map a network drive with "net use ..." i got the infamous
error 5 access denied

I have follow the PCChuk's troubleshoting guide but can't found a
solution.

This is the browstat status output from the machine with the problem:

Status for domain GCMEXLAN on transport
\Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{E1429AB6-F5E0-4F9F-A5C6-7DABD2B1D488}
Browsing is active on domain.
Master browser name is: GCMEXSBS
Could not connect to registry, error = 5 Unable to determine
build of browser master: 5
Unable to determine server information for browser master: 5
2 backup servers retrieved from master GCMEXSBS
\\GCMEXSBS
\\COMPRAS2
There are 11 servers in domain GCMEXLAN on transport
\Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{E1429AB6-F5E0-4F9F-A5C6-7DABD2B1D488}
There are 1 domains in domain GCMEXLAN on transport
\Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{E1429AB6-F5E0-4F9F-A5C6-7DABD2B1D488}

Thanks, any help will be appreciate.
If you need more info about the config, or I forgot to mention
something, ask me.

Default Re: Infamous Error 5 Access denied

at last it works!, after 2 days working in this problem I found a
solution:

the registry key:

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanworks tation\parameters\enablesecuritysignature

on the clients must be set to 1

I think this is because I set

....\lanmanserver\parameters\requiresecuritysignat ure = 1

on the server days after, following some step by step doc. in order to
fix another problem with group policies, I think.

If anyone could point me to some document where I will find more info
about this topic please let me know.

Anyway, things are working smooth now, I'm relaxed, and the users are
happy :-D

best regards
Robert
