Default VPN error 800

We have a remote user who is getting this error message when trying to
connect remoyely to us: "Error 800 - Unable to establish the VPN connection.
The VPN server maybe unreachable or security parameters may not be configured
properly for this connection." I have had them disable MS firewall and EZ
antivirus, but still not success. They are using XP Pro SP2. No other remote
users are experiencing this. Any ideas will be appreciated.

I am experiencing the same problem. Did you find a solution?

Here is a more detailed description of the problem I am having. I would
appreciate any help or suggestions.

I had an established, working VPN connection with my work network. My home
computer is new and has Microsoft XP (as does my work computer). The VPN
connection worked perfectly for several months. Last week, I began receiving
the same VPN Error 800 message. Everyone else at work continues to use their
VPN connection successfully - I am the only one receiving this error message
- so I know that it is my computer, not the system, with the problem.

I have done several things to troubleshoot including:
- turn the Microsoft Firewall off and keep it on with exceptions for the VPN
network;
- change the internet security settings to a lower level;
- uninstall and remove expired Symantec security software; and
- run Spyware Doctor (found 53 infections, which I removed).
I restarted the computer after each of these attempted fixes but none of
these efforts worked.

In addition, there are a few websites that I am having trouble accessing. I
have worked with the cable company remotely and in person and it is not a
modem problem. I can access secure websites (i.e. hotmail, my bank, etc.)
without a problem. But, I cannot access my work remote e-mail website
(choice one) - other people from work can without a problem so I know it is
not a choice one problem. I also cannot download mcafee security software
from my internet/cable company's web site. In both instances, I get a
message "cannot find server, DNS error".

I am at my wit's end (as is my work IT person). Any suggestions?!? Thank
