I have just recently bought a Dell Inspiron B130 and I am attempting to
incorporate it into my existing network between a my printer, and to other XP machines both home edition. The laptop is also running home. I have ran through the wizard multiple times I have even tried to change the name of the network by starting from scratch. The funny thing is is when I change the network name of my workgroup by running the wizard on one of my desktops to MSHOME2 and I do the same to the laptop they still cant see one another but...both my desktops and the printer can still see one another even though the workgroup names are deiifrent. I can ping all of the machines with the laptop and the lap top can see the router and it has internet access. Any help wpuld be appreaciated. |

Lack of complete visibility in a workgroup can be caused by several problems, but the most common is a misconfigured or overlooked personal firewall. <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/your-personal-firewall-can-either-help.html> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/0...ther-help.html If no help there, provide "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from each computer, and we can diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked articles, and follow instructions precisely: <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/troubleshooting-network-neighborhood.html#AskingForHelp> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/0...#AskingForHelp -- Cheers, Chuck, MS-MVP [Windows - Networking] http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/ Paranoia is not a problem, when it's a normal response from experience.
