Default XP connectivity problem

I have a desktop running XP sp2 that froze with a 162? or possibly 169 IP
called my service provider and basically ran the gambit found that they were
able to reset my cable modem and now my IP is back to normal but I have no
connectivity... In network connections I get good IP address and system is
sending out and receiveing packets but for example packets sent 160 packets
received 48...when useing my new router to connect my GF's laptop to the net
works fine but my desktop doesn't...HELP!
