I have a small home network and recently tried to add a Gateway computer
running Windows XP Professional. The computer was a gift, so I don't really know a lot about it, before I received it. The problem is that I am unable to connect to the Internet at all using the Gateway. I have installed AOL 9.0 Security Edition, and when I try to connect I get the error message ERROR: 46-NPQE. I have also tried to connect to the Internet using Internet Explorer and the AnalogX Proxy Server, which is running on a computer running Window XP Home Edition, Service Pack 2. I still can't connect to anything on the Gateway computer. I know the proxy server is set up correctly because other computers are able to conenct thru it. My suspicion is that there may be some kind of (firewall) issue. The Gateway did at one time run Norton and it expired. Like I said before the computer was used when it came to me and there may be issues I don't know about. The Gateway XP version is Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002. One thing I have notice is that there is no Windows Firewall icon in the Conrol panel. I do have one on this computer, which is running Windows XP Home edition, Service Pack 2. Is there supposed to be a Windows Firewall on the Gateway? Could it have been deleted? Thanks for your help. -- Chuck159 |
