I can't share anything on my computer when I go to the properties'
sharing tab. I have simple file sharing enabled, and can also view the shares from my windows xp home computer on this computer. Does anyone know why I wouldn't be able to share anything on this computer? My account has all administrative rights, so I don't see why. The checkbox next to "share this folder" is always greyed out. Help, please. -ryan |

It won't seem to let me share anything at all. Is there a specific service that may be disabled to disallow the sharing? And I don't understand why I can share the 'My Videos' and 'My Music' folders that are on my other Windows XP computer. |

"C:\Program Files" is another special folder space in SFS. Let's see what the scope of the problem is. # Create folder "C:\Test". # Share "C:\Test" as "Test". # Can you see, access, and update files in share Test from the other computer? -- Cheers, Chuck, MS-MVP [Windows - Networking] http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/ Paranoia is not a problem, when it's a normal response from experience. I'm not sure if you want me to try that on this computer(XP Pro SP2,
this one is not sharing) or my other one(XP Home SP1, sharing works fine). I tried it on both, however. While sharing on my XP Home computer, I can access on my XP Pro SP2 computer and change everything, access everything, it works perfectly. However, I attempted to share the folder "C:\test\" on my XP Pro SP2 computer and alas, inside the sharing tab the "share this folder on the network" checkbox does not even allow me to check it. It is greyed out. I have windows firewall turned off, and this account should have full access to everything, as it is the only account on this computer. Should I attempt to logon as 'administrator' and try again?
