Hallo,
after i have mapped a network drive.... net use z: \\servername\sharename /user:servername\username "password" /persistent:yes ....and after the next reboot...the windows 2000/xp host shows the network drive as disconnected and request for a password. Can Windows XP or 2000 store remote Passwords without the function placed in the Windows XP Control Pannel called "Manage Passwords" (XP)? |

Not sure exactly what's causing your problem (issue with the Protected
Storage service, perhaps, at a wild guess?) but the reverse is normally the case, it's far more difficult to prevent unwanted 'remembering' of passwords than it is to allow it. |

Hallo Ian,
I agree with your information, but a customer promise me, that he accessed a remote storage on a Novell Server without reenter the password after logon. The Account on the Novell Server has a blank password, but after reebot the Windows client it will ask for Username and Password if you try to access the drive mapping. I think the only way to handle this problem is a Logon Script with the "use net" command or to turn of the authentification of the CIFS Share on the Novell Server. I don't believe in the statement of the customer, that a persistent mapping remember in remote passwords. My question is wether you confirm me or is there another possibility to store such passwords?
