I am Getting an IPC$ request for Password from My WinME Machine when
trying to access my Win XP Machine.
If this is not right Group can anyone redirect me.
I cannot accces my WIN XP Machine from my Other machines.
One is WINME the other two are Win98SE machines using 3C450 NIC's
I am using a 5 PORT Hub that came with my Original Home Network setup
using all 3C450's
I have been trying to hook in my two other machines.
The WinME Machine can see the W98SE ones OK but having problem seeing
the XP
Is there a way to bypass the IPC$ connection and get the Shared C: drive
on the XP to be seen on the Network.
I used to be able to see it but Now even that is gone
Played around with reconfiguring the XP and now my Other machines can't
see the XP
The other Machines are using MICROSOFT Client for Network with no
Password just a "return"
"HELP"

Run the Network Setup Wizard on the XP machine. Don't run the Wizard
on the WinME machine, even though it tells you to.

If that doesn't fix the problem, the solution depends on whether you
have XP Home Edition or XP Professional.

In XP Home Edition:

1. Make sure that the Guest account is enabled for network access by
typing this line at a command prompt:

net user guest /active:yes

2. Remove the network password from the Guest account:

a. Click Start | Run.
b. Type "control userpasswords2" in the box and click OK:
c. Click Guest.
d. Click Reset Password.
e. Click OK without entering a new password.

In XP Professional, the solution depends on whether simple file
sharing is enabled or disabled:

1. Open My Computer, click Tools | Folder Options | View, scroll to
the end of the list of advanced settings, and look at the box labeled
"Use simple file sharing (Recommended)".

2. If there's a check mark in the box, follow the steps for XP Home
Edition above.

3. If there's not a check mark in the box, XP Professional requires
matching user accounts on the other computers. Log into the other
computers with the same user name and password that you use to log
into XP Professional.

So Far I've done the above on my WinXP SP1. I can see the XP of my
Pentium I with Win98SE but still can't access the XP. I've lost the ME
altogether but will try another re-setting of the Network Wizard
