I'm having a problem with the print spooler on a networked PC. The service
is set to run automatically, yet when I turn on the PC, I get the error message that the spooler has had to shut down due to an error...etc., I then restart it from Administrative tools>services. It runs for less than a minute and shuts down again with the same error message. I have been through all the KB articles regarding this problem without success. I do not have any Lexmark drivers or files loaded. The only dependency for the spooler is RPCSS. The PC has been swept for mal, spy and adware as well as viruses, again without finding anything untoward. It has also had Registry Mechanic run, again without, finding any problems. There is only one printer on the system, a Konica Minolta Colour Laser and I cannot remember how this printer was installed as some of the PCs connected directly to the printer server and others had to have a TCP/IP port added for the printer's IP address (no idea as to why this was the case either, some PC's connecting directly, yet others needing a port adding) I can't stay in the Printer dialogue box long enough to ascertain how it is connected because as soon as I start the spooler and select the printer, I get the message that the spooler has stopped running. Any help with this before PC disappears through window gratefully received Running XPPro SP2 with all updates installed. BTW, the problem with the spooler started about a month ago. TIA MH |
