Default How do I keep Windows showing the power meter all the time ?

I am running XP Home on my new Dell laptop. The battery
power meter does not show up in the taskbar. Although in the Control
Panel -> Power Options -> Advanced , the checkbox "Always show icon on the
taskbar" is always checked.

Please help me out of this problem.
Thanks

The icon will be in the taskbar. But it will be a matter
of expanding the taskbar to bring up the power meter icon.
Click on it and the icon will probably stay visible for the
duration of the session.

Right click on the taskbar and select properties/taskbar/customize. Change
the behavior of the meter icon.
