Default Change Windows XP for a new owner

I want to give my computer to my son. The computer has my name thru out, such
as the folder under Documents and Settings is Joseph. Also my username as
owner is Joseph, etc. How can I change all these type of settings to my son's
name?

When you say you're giving it to your son, does that mean it's
his to do with it as he please? If that's the case, you might
want to consider wiping the hard drive clean and performing a
clean installation of XP. During the installation you can
create a user account with his name. That way you've lessened
the chance that your personal files will be seen by others
outside your family.

If, on the other hand, you're simply letting him use a computer
that will remain in your house with an understanding that it's
still your computer then you can do the following:

Create a new user account for your son with his name. Take a
look here for the procedure:

How To Create and Configure User Accounts in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;279783

If you want this account to be a copy of your old account but
with his name you'd need to logon with a 3rd account that is a
Computer Administrator and follow the procedure outlined here:

How to copy data from a corrupted user profile to a new profile
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/811151

Once you have his account setup, you can delete your user
account if you want. If you do, you'll be asked if you want to
save your files. If you answer yes, the user account files will
be saved to a folder on the desktop.

As for the ownership issues, take a look here for how to change
that:

Windows XP

Good luck
