Default Can not reinstall IIS manager from XP Pro CD or MS web site
Here is the IIS6.log file. I have to cut it short in order to post the file.

I'm assuming you are trying to install IIS on XP Pro, which the log shown in
your post is from trying to install IIS 6, which can only be installed on
Win2k3 Server OS machines. XP Pro uses IIS 5.1, and can not be installed on
XP Home.

Thanks for your email.

I tried to find a Miscrosoft download for IIS 5.1, but found only some
security
patch links. Where can I find the download link for IIS 5.1?

Another question for dowloaing IIS 5.1 from XP Pro CD. I should already
have download some IIS 6 files on my PC. Do I need to clean these IIS 6
files before downloading IIS 5.1? What is the IIS version in the XP Pro CD?

You cannot download IIS 5.1 (what XP Pro runs). You install it from Add/Remove Programs, Windows Components.

Default Re: Can not reinstall IIS manager from XP Pro CD or MS web site
Hi Doug,

We are back to my original question: Why I did not have IIS manager icon in
the Administrative Tools after installing IIS from Add/Remove Windows
Components?
Then I created an IIS manager shortcut. Still I had a snap-in failed
initilization error messgae. Finally I run registration from sys32 and no
snap-in failure error. However, I still could not open my IIS manager.

What else can I try, other than reinstall from CD or MS website?

You may want to remove and reinstall it from the CD, using Add/Remove. There is no download to install it.

Default Re: Can not reinstall IIS manager from XP Pro CD or MS web site
Thanks. Following your instruction, I have successfully installed the IIS.
However, the Defaulted Web Site is Stopped. Clicking the start arrow button,
showed an error message: Unexpected error 0x8ffe2740 occurred. Typing
http://localhost on my web browser, showed "The page can not be found" error
message.
