Default MPWN experts.

I use road runner as my server.
My daughter uses SBC.

We evacuated from Hurricane Rita and I tried to view news groups with her
computer.
Neither road runner tech service nor SBC (even worse) could tell me how to
set up my news server question. IT seems to me to be a simple thing but
neither were any help. Road runner did say I could not use a rr name.

Can any of you tell me how to do it. I am going back there for all of next
week?

TIA
Wull

Do you need the newsserver name? In North Carolina, it's
news-server.nc.rr.com so you might use 'news-server.texas.rr.com'.
'news-server.gt.rr.com' (based on your posting address), or perhaps
'news-server.tornado.texas.rr.com', depending on the Time Warner/Road Runner
ISP. Most Road Runner users don't have to authenticate (use a password) to
access the newsserver.

You cannot use the Road Runner news server unless you are connected to Road
Runner. Since I take you are connecting through your daughter's SBC account
you will have to use the SBC news server.

If you only want to access the Microsoft Public newsgroups, use
msnews.microsoft.com as the server and no password is necessary.

Thanks Mike. It looks simple enough. I will try it on Monday when I return
to Houston.
