When do you get this message, at startup or when you try to run a
particular program? If at startup, use the System Configuration Utility
to determine what program is running at Windows startup and calling
this (missing) file.

Go to Start>Run and type (without quotes) "msconfig" [enter]. This
brings up the System Configuration Utility. Look on the Startup tab and
find the probable culprit. Uncheck the box next to its name, Apply and
OK out. You don't need to restart immediately, but the next time you do
you'll get a dialog saying you've used the Utility. Just tick the box
that says in effect, "don't bother me about this again".

How to Troubleshoot By Using the Msconfig Utility in Windows XP -

If you are getting the error when running a particular program, either
uninstall/reinstall the program or contact its maker's tech support
people.

malke your advice is very much appreciated and I have followed your
Instructions, sadly as a silver server, and yes, thats an excuse I know
I have no idea which the 'Probable culprit might be ? Should I just uncheck
one at a time till the message stops appearing ? I will study the webpage you
sent me and maybe learn more from that, thank you again very much.

No, please don't randomly uncheck things without knowing what they are.
Here are some sites where you can look up what you find on the Startup
tab using msconfig:

http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_index.htm
http://www.answersthatwork.com/Taskl...s/tasklist.htm

You can also run msconfig and write down what you see and post it here
if you like and I'll tell you if anything pops out at me. Another
option would be to have a knowledgeable friend (someone who is *really*
knowledgeable who you trust not to be inflating his degree of
knowledge) or a computer professional take a look.

See my comments inline. If I think you should disable the item from
starting, I'll say so. Otherwise leave it alone. You should always try
to disable programs from starting from within the programs themselves
first. Most programs have options or preferences that you can set. You
need to take the time to look for those options. If the programs really
don't have a place where you can tell them not to start with Windows,
you can use msconfig.

You can find out what things are - just like I did - by going to Google
and using the item name as a search term. I'll do it for you this time;
next time you'll be able to do this yourself ;-).

These are for your graphics card > Ati2mdxx; atiptaxx

PROBABLE MALWARE > joqrfdx

So, you have a few things going on here. To address your original
question, my guess is that the MKBDATA.DATA file is associated with the
MMKEYBD. If you don't use special hot keys, I'd disable that and see if
the error goes away. You should also run through at least scanning with
Ad-aware and Spybot Search & Destroy from my general malware removal
steps here:
http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/...moving_Malware

Make sure your Norton is a current version (not earlier than 2004) and
that your subscription is valid and the virus definitions are
up-to-date. Make sure you've got all security patches applied for your
operating system and that you are protected by a firewall.
