I believe internet connections should be through a user account and never
through an administrator account because of security issues. Does this mean the hidden administrator account, or any account having administator rights? The issue arises because I've encountered difficulties with several downloads to user accounts when trying to install them, being informed that it can be done only with an account with administer privileges. What a pain! Ros |

Adminsistrator privleges are required to install software so people who are just "users" can't install a lot of crap and screw things up. May not be a big thing at home but in a company it is a nightmare. I know what a pain it is and the account I always use is an administrator account for that reason. Not ideal for security but so far no problem. Note that if you download software that is nasty and you switch to administrator to install it there is a good chance you have negated any advantate of running as user only for that situation IMO. billh |
