Hello. I have a little nagging problem with Outlook Express.
1st, let me say I had O.E. working just fine, but I recently re-installed Windows XP. Now whenever I open Outlook Express the little Login Window associated with my main email address pops open and though my email ID is listed, I keep having to enter in the password for my email server (Comcast). This is almost every time. The line where my password should be is empty, yet the box to "remember my password" is ticked, yet low-lighted in the background underneath. After I enter in my password it's OK. I am completely up to date with SP2 and all security updates. I do have the Net framework installed, but I had that before. Is this a corruption problem? It just seems it will not save the password, nor do I see dots representing a password was ever there. I have installed my password manager just now and it will add the password for me, but i still have to click to enter.. And so maybe this is why I also am having problems with a couple of other email addresses at Yahoo and using Ypops to convert them to a Pop3 format and port these into Outlook Express ... I did have this working just fine before I did this Windows re-install (2 other Yahoo email addresses). .. Perhaps the passwords are not getting entered here either? At the microsoft website, to re-install O. E. looks like a task I definitely do not want to do - it mentions having to re-install Internet Explorer as part of the procedure to get at O. E. But 1st I'd have to go into my registry and edit it (though I couldn't find a reference on exactly what/where to edit). This seems like overkill and if the (possible) solution really is that tough it seems to me to be something most average users should not have to mess with. Perhaps having all of the Windows Updates install themselves at once? (20 months old system, XP probably older than that). I did have a CD with SP2 on it which I used, & which I installed 1st before I went online, but then updates preceded to install perhaps as many as 15 updates in one session. Any help out there? Suggestions? Or if it is a tough nut to crack, please suggest another email client that works with I. E. that is free (and hopefully works with Ypops). Thanks, ....B.M. |

I tried the 1st one and it should work.. Hopefully once i can decipher what it says to do I'll try again, it spells it out, and yet I got a bit confused as to the last sequence.. Perhaps I'll try again in the morning after sleeping, not now at 2:30 AM... |
