I am using XP Home. Recently, I have tried to clean out some of the
accumulated garbage on my computer (accum over the last 3 yrs). I've noticed
my " hard drive used space" gets larger and larger, but I ad no programs,
files, etc. After going thru all the clean up steps I could think of, I
noticed my 1386 File is HUGE. What is the 1386 File? How can I delete some of
files without fearing I have deleted a necessary file? Do I even want to
clean out the file? Any other suggestions?

The i386 folder contains Windows operating system files and you 'should not'
delete anything from it. You do so at your peril.

The I386 folder is put there by the computer manufacturer, in place of giving you an XP CD. Should you choose to go to Add/Remove Programs, Windows Components, this is where XP will get its files from.

All that I know is the i386 folder is your installation folder when you first
installed your OS. All the system files are stored in this particular
folder. So I don't know if you want to mess around with this kinda stuff.
