I find that when I cancel a message I've posted on a newsgroup, it
disappears from the group. However, the message is still visible when viewing the newsgroup from another computer. How does one completely cancel a message that they're written? Thanks! Scott |

In general, you can't, unless you do it almost immediately after posting. Newsgroup messages are quickly propagated to many different servers all over the world. Even if you cancel a message on the server you posted it to (and that's all you can ever do), it will remain on lots of other servers, not to mention places like Googlegroups. -- Ken Blake - Microsoft MVP Windows: Shell/User Please reply to the newsgroup |

I think you have to be quick. You must cancel before it propagates to the
other servers. It also helps to connect directly to the Microsoft NNTP servers news.microsoft.com -- Regards, Dave Patrick ....Please no email replies - reply in newsgroup. Hi Tom,
You should be able to cancel your own, I know I have and JE has stated that this function should work for those connecting directly through the msnews server. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Associate Expert - WindowsXP Expert Zone www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone Windows help - www.rickrogers.org "Tom Pepper Willett" <tompepper@mvps.invalid> wrote in message news:e2kZS2c1FHA.2008@TK2MSFTNGP10.phx.gbl... > At last report, you can't cancel a message on the MS servers. > -- > === > Tom "Pepper" Willett > Microsoft MVP - FrontPage > --- > FrontPage Support: > http://www.frontpagemvps.com/ > > About FrontPage 2003: > http://office.microsoft.com/home/off...tid=FX01085802 > === > "Dave Patrick" <DSPatrick@nospam.gmail.com> wrote in message > news:e4y$tec1FHA.2348@TK2MSFTNGP15.phx.gbl... > |I think you have to be quick.
