Default Question-21/10/2005

Dear Sir/Madam

My computer's OS is MS WIN XP Professional and it is alway connected to the
network system. Sometime, when I turn on the computer, it needs more to
start it. A few times, the computer showed the screen that it was being
updated. But, however, it needed more time (about the full morning time).

Now, how I know that the computer is being updated or affected by the virus.
And, is it truth that it need a long time to update the computer.

Thank you for your help!

--
Mr Cheung

I don't know. The screen only showed that there had a few files to being
installed. If I wanted to turn off the computer, it showed that it would be
automated to turn off the computer after all the files had been installed.

Peter

When the computer is turned on, the computer will be started up and to be
connected to the network. I only use the computer to do my job.

But the computer is occupied to be updated, the screen show it, I hope I can
know the computer is being invaded by the virus or it is acutally updated as
fast as. If I know it is being attacked by the virus, I will tried to stop
it or turn the computer off at once. However, how can I know or check it is
attacked by the virus or is updated.

Thanks!

I *think* I understand what you are saying. When you try to use Internet
Explorer, it goes to the Microsoft website for Updates that are needed.

At the top of Internet Explorer, click on Tools, then on Windows Update.
That will take you to the right Microsoft place to check your computer for
updates that are needed. If so, then download them.

Do I have this right?? And if you do not have an antivirus program, get one
NOW!! There are a few free ones out there, like AVG, Avast and E Trust.

Cheers.....Heather

Heather

Sorry, it is when I turned on the computer every day, the computer would be
running the program, such as BIOS, Autoexec.bat.

Actually, it only took a few minutes to complete and connected the network.
And then, I can use any softwre as I wanted. But, one time per one or one
and half month, after completed the running programe, when I click other
software, it took a long time to open such as MS Word or MS Excel.
Sometimes, it showed MS Windows was being updated and remained how many
files to be installed.

I didn't know which time the computer was attacked by the virus or updated
the MS Window.

Shing
