I have upgraded by notebook from Windows 2000 to XP. When I boot up under
XP, none of my Win2K user names are valid, the desktop shortcuts I could see under Win2K are gone, and none of my software installed under Win2K can be run. There must be a slick way of importing the user account from my computer's Win2K era to is new incarnation under XP. But I can't find it. Note: My computer is now configured to let me choose booting up under Win2K or XP. I did that because of the problem I am reporting. What's the way out of this problem? Thanks |

You probably should run the file transfer wizard in 2000,put the data on
a cd,then install in xp.If xp isnt letting you in,try tapping the F8 key,safe-mode, enter as administrator, then run the wizard. "NickHDS" wrote: > I have upgraded by notebook from Windows 2000 to XP. This is not an upgrade scenario but adding a second OS to an existing computer. It will be necessary to rebuild the user profile(s) for Windows XP as these (and Windows XP) will be independent of Windows 2000. |
