Look under "Start" > "All Programs" > "Accessories". Both Notepad and Wordpad are basic word processors. An improved version of WordPad is Cetus CWordPad which you can download from http://www.cetussoft.com/cwordpad.htm John <>< |

Have you purchased and installed a word processing application? Did the software bundle included when you purchased the computer include a word processor? We can't see your computer, so we have no way of knowing what applications you may or may not have installed unless you tell us. Windows XP, as an operating system, naturally has no word processing capability. It does come with two rudimentary text editors, NotePad and WordPad, shortcuts to which would be located under Start > All Programs > Accessories. -- Bruce Chambers Help us help you: http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html You can have peace. Windows XP is an operating system not a Word processor
Though as John directed you Notepad and Word pad can give you basic wordprocessor functionality they are not really word processor programs You may have MSworks on your computer or Coral Wordperfect suite . If not then you would need to purchase a wordprocessor or an office suite Like Works Wordperfect or Ms Office "porky" <porky@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:E12867AC-1526-4A99-A233-6BCF5D54E478@microsoft.com... >I am new to computing (never used a computer. > i have windows xp. > I cannot get any icons or anything that will put me in the right direction > for word prossesing, ive clicked every icon i have come accross but dont > seem > to get anywhere or anything to do with word prossesing. > Can anybody help PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE? > -- > porky |

Why not just go with Open Office? It is free to use and "almost" as good as
MS Office. http://www.openoffice.org/ Kind regards, Gunilla.
