Default Norton Anti Virus

Hello,
Can anyone help me with Norton Anti Virus Please?
I am very new to the Technical side of computers as l have always had the
support of technicians while at work. I have recently purchased an Acer for
home use and l have not had any luck with the help from the place of purchase
nor at Acer help desk.
My problem is that something has happened ( not sure what yet ) and Norton
Anti Virus is saying that it does not support the repair feature and to
uninstall and reinstall, but l don't know how.
Acer help desk told me to put in the OS CD disk and follow the promps only l
don't know what l am looking for.
I would be most greatful for any assistance.
Thanking you in advance.
Kind regards
Dawn

Without knowing what "something happened' means, it is impossible to
give you specific advice.

To uninstall/reinstall any program, go to the Add/Remove Programs applet
in Control Panel. For specific information on Norton Antivirus, go to
Symantec's website for support with their products:

http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/index.html

Based on your post, it might be the best course of action for you to
take the machine to a professional computer repair shop (not your local
equivalent of BigStoreUSA) and have them sort it all out for you.
Otherwise, see this link for help in making a good newsgroup post:

http://www.dts-l.org/goodpost.htm

The link will show you what sort of details you need to include in your
next post so people can help you. I'm not saying this to hurt your
feelings but rather to help you maximize your chances of getting good
and accurate advice.

I had the same problem from the day I got my new computer. I finally fixed
it by adding a couple of folders. See
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...04090712504306 and
follow section 2. Good luck.

You likely got a 90 day free license for Norton AntiVirus. This has to be
upgraded with a years renewal subscription after 90 days to continue with
full functionality.

Dawn,

The same thing happened to me with Norton AV on my new laptop. According
to Symantec, there are several possible fixes.

Use this link:

http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...sch_nam&seg=hm

The one that worked for me was in Section 2. I recreated the folders:
Income and Portal under the Quarantine folder. After that, everything
worked perfectly.
