Default uninstall nightmare

I installed a Rogers/Yahoo browser to try it ... didn't like it, so tried to
uninstall. Uninstall went well until it got to the "base components" (42MB)
then it just stops. Contacted Rogers and was told I should get a 3rd party
uninstaller. I D/L System Mechanic ... still won't uninstall. I've Googled
and tried everything I find ..... still no luck. Any sugestions?
Thanks ....

Why don't you try to reinstall. Then do another uninstall. Maybe some of the
uninstall files are missing. reinstall would put them back and then maybe
allow the uninstall to work properly.

No....if you restore back to before you put the durned Rogers Yahoo Bar on,
it will remove it. Should remove all traces of it because you are putting
your computer back to the state it was in on that day. Providing it was not
more than a week or two ago. Too many changes if you go back further.

I am a Rogers customer and I don't install any of their geeky programs!!
And telling you to get a 3rd party uninstaller is not "customer service" in
my book.

Cheers.....Heather

This might be a case of a branded IE only. First search the net for
"Yahoo toolbar removal" or "Yahoo toolbar uninstall" instructions and
follow them. Then try to unbrand IE:

From a command prompt:

rundll32.exe iedkcs32.dll,Clear

and/or

rundll32.exe iedkcs32.dll, BrandCleanInstallStubs

Given to me awhile ago by the incredibly smart MVP's on the ME group.
Will this work on XP? I don't know, only one way to find out. Or wait
for the XP MVP's to tell us :-)
