I am at wits end as I am wondering why my updated machine is without Windows
Movie maker 2.1 which is supposedly on the SP 2 update. According to the CD I ordered, it has Movie maker 2.1 on it but when I installed it cleanly on a formatted XP pro machine, no movie maker 2.1. Before the format, I downloaded the admin of the SP2 and it gave me Movie maker 2.1. Does the CD contain less than the downloaded sp2? I am a freak when it comes to having all the latest updates and patches, so you can imagine my concern when I had to download movie maker version 2 instead of 2.1. Where can I get version 2.1 if it won't install from the CD and is not available at Windows Update? -- "...I Can Neither Confirm Nor Deny..." |

PA-
There is no download link. I have been to this page over and over again. It's either order CD or go to Windows Update-Windows update does not recognize my system as needing movie maker 2.1. However when I run the program and choose the about for movie maker, it states version 2.0-I ordered a new CD and it still didn't install version 2.1. -- "...I Can Neither Confirm Nor Deny..." Is there a way to browse the SP 2 disc and locate Movie Maker 2.1 on it and
install alone? -- "...I Can Neither Confirm Nor Deny..." Well, there is likely a way to pull it out of the CAB files and such - but I don't even want to start going there. heh -- Shenan Stanley MS-MVP -- How To Ask Questions The Smart Way http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html |

DO you think trying the new SP 2 disc will hurt an already updated sp 2
installation? In other words try and reinstall SP2 and get the 2.1?OR will it affect the patches and updates I have since received and installed? -- "...I Can Neither Confirm Nor Deny..." It shouldn't (SHOULDN'T) affect any patches you have installed since then since none of them should REQUIRE SP2 at this point. It's worth a shot. -- Shenan Stanley MS-MVP -- How To Ask Questions The Smart Way http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html |

Shenan-
Got a fix for the Movie Maker deal. To be honest, I do recall Windows Update offering Movie Maker 2.0 before the release of SP 2 and 2.1. Apparently I am not the black sheep when it comes to this issue. http://blogs.msdn.com/deanro/archive...18/355050.aspx -- "...I Can Neither Confirm Nor Deny..."
