Default stumped ms

The Windows Security Center Service was unable to establish event queries with
WMI to monitor third party AntiVirus and Firewall.
This is the event error log on the problem.

I now have the red shield telling me the security center no longer recognizes
software it's recognized for the past 2 years.

What changed ?
I installed the newest update to the ATI AIW software. Then when it failed, I
removed it, or tried to anyway's.

Then tried to install the original CD. Last ATI update screwed things so bad I
can no longer install the original CD.

So tried to re-install last stable update, 9.03. Failed.

tried 9.06 . It worked to some degree.

Then other things started going south.
Quicktime started screwing things from loading. Re-installed Quicktime. fixed a
few things.

Re-installed an update to the virus software [twice]. the virus software works,
but XP SP2 doesn't think it is.

Found some messed up things in my startup folder. Fixed those.

HP started kicking out errors booting. seems to have fixed itself.
ASP.net started locking up the shutdown. Just turned aspnet off to fix it.

Did I say how much I Hate being an unwilling Beta Tester for ATI b4 ?
Every version I've installed except the original CD's has failed in one way or
the other.

And now pinnacle it seems has gone to war with ATI, by creating stuff
incompatible with ATI software so much so, that it was the cause of my last ATI
failure.

Anyway's lets get the XP security center back to working.. Any ideas ?
I've scanned the web on this subject, and almost 100% say re-install your
program.. in my case I have no idea where to begin since the virus software was
re-installed twice. and all the steps above b4 this note. Oh yeah spent 5 hours
online with MS Tech support. They passed the buck with a shrug of the shoulders
after turning all the services on to automatic failed to cure the problem. Plus
several other suggestions went nowhere.

I'd like nothing better than to reinstall my original ATI software and NEVER
upgrade it again. But I've tried that route last time I installed an ATI
update, and got nowhere. Had to resort to installing 9.03, a version halfway
between the 8.5 and the current 12.1 version.

I'm now using 9.06. 9.08 is buggy also. Actually so is 9.06, but for some
reason it's semi stable now.
If you can call the security center quitting as stable.

Click on the shield and click recommendations under Virus
protection.then click "I have a virus protection solution....." This
will stop the shield from appearing in the system tray.

I'm not interested in disabling the security center. I want it fixed so it
works like it did b4 installing the screwed up ATI upgrade. I know how to turn
it off.

I do think I've possibly found what's screwing up 90% of the other cascading
failures. pinnacle re-wrote my autoexec removing all path statements and
replacing it with a path just to it.. I re-added the link to windows/system32,
but have no idea what was in there in addition to that.

I'm thinking I'm going to have to uninstall sp2, and reinstall it. I have the
CD, but can't say I've seen anything regarding uninstalling it.
