I am running Windows XP Pro.
When I do Start/Programs I get a complete listing of my programs. This list, complete with folders I have established for specific applications, is what is reflected in C:\Documents and Settings\All users\Start Menu\Programs. When I do rightclick Start/Properties/Advanced Explorer then opens out to C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Start Menu\Programs and the list of programs is not as complete as when I do Start Programs. In other words the Owner list of programs is not as complete as the All Users listing that shows up when I do Start/ Programs. I am the only user on the computer. I don't recall having to designate what programs were available to any user. Why do All Users and Owner differ? Why does XP choose to display All Users programs versus Owners programs. Is there a parameter or something that I should have marked or designated? Is this an item that is supposed to be designated on each program installation? If so how? TIA -- Tom Duprex |

Hi Tom,
This is by design, what you actually get on the start menu is a combination of the two (all users and user) as you are the only user its all a little superfluous. Some programs do not give you the option to install for all users and will therefore place the shortcut in the user\start menu, others assume for all users and fewer ask you to decide. Hope that's clear and helpful.
