Default Standby Mode does not stand by.

When I select the standby mode most often then not the computer will start up
again on its own after a minute or so. It does not matter whether I have
programs running or not. It seems that when I then select standby again it
will hold the standby mode.

Is there a solution for this?

There is not a solution but you can check how much your room shakes.
That could be a possible problem why it doesn't hold stand-by. PLUS if
you get earthquakes (that you can't feel of course) that can trigger
your computer to turn on!

I had wondered about shaking myself but the house I live in does not seem to
shake. No traffic and no earthquakes. I also eliminated small rodents
running across my desk. Note that the second time I put it in standby it
seems to hold.

Default RE: Standby Mode does not stand by.

try looking in your BIOS...
there is a toggle for standby and power settings that you can change. it
sounds like your xp software was purchased separately from you computer..
good luck!
