Have a look in Control Panel / Printers and Faxes. Make sure the icon with
the little tick on it is your real printer.

Some applications do install "virtual" printers and can take over. If it's
not on your real printer (it should have the maker and model of the printer
as the name), right click it and select Set as Default Printer.

Default Re: printing problems

if you deleted the usb port then unplug the printer and reboot the machine.
it won't find the printer. then turn off the computer again replug in the
printer. It should then state that it found new hardware. If worse comes to
worse uninstall everything related to the printer unplug it and reboot
machine twice allow about 10 seconds before turning it back on. then reload
the software and reboot then plug in the printer. it should install the
driver and everything

hope this helped.
