Hi, not sure whether to post this as a new post or part of the string, so
I'm doing both.... Well, here's something for starters - at boot up I got a 'serious error' message: it said that an unknown device driver had failed, and gave the following error signature: BCCode:4e BCP1:0000008F BCP2: 0000DC7E BCP3:0000C88E BCP4: 00000000 OSVER:5_1_2600 SP:2_0 Product:768_1 It also produced a report to send to MS; I saved the report files if they are of any use to you. I did set up the paramaters that were suggested, and will send any notes from the crash bluescreen. Thanks for the help, and Happy Holidays! Hi Ted,
0x4e generally means there is a problem with the ram. If you want to check the memory, there are free programs here: http://www.simmtester.com/page/produ...c/download.asp http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp It is possible that there is a timing conflict if more than one stick is in use, pulling one may resolve it. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Associate Expert - WindowsXP Expert Zone www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone Windows help - www.rickrogers.org "Ted Curtin" <tjcurtin1@verizon.net> wrote in message news:OG1yXA%23BGHA.3604@TK2MSFTNGP09.phx.gbl... > Hi, not sure whether to post this as a new post or part of the string, > so I'm doing both.... > > Well, here's something for starters - at boot up I got a 'serious error' > message: it said that an unknown device driver had failed, and gave the > following error signature: > > BCCode:4e BCP1:0000008F BCP2: 0000DC7E BCP3:0000C88E BCP4: > 00000000 OSVER:5_1_2600 SP:2_0 Product:768_1 > > It also produced a report to send to MS; I saved the report files if they > are of any use to you. Well, I ran the Microsoft memory test program that Rick suggested - both the
standard and full suite of tests - and everything passed muster; no errors. Given the message error message below that I got the last shutdown, does anyone have any other leads? Stop:0X00000000A (0X00000004, 0X00000002, 0X00000000, 0X804E6617) beginning dump of physical memory. Physical memory dump complete. Contact your system admin or tech suppt group for further assist. Hi Ted,
Can you send me the dump (dmp) file that was most recently created?
