If there is no PHYSICAL sound device (place to plug in speakers) - then yes - you need to have someone install a sound card - or get an external sound device (USB possibly.) Otherwise - you likely just need to install the correct drivers from the manufacturers web page for the make/model of your installed sound device so that Windows XP can "speak to it in its own language" and thus - output sounds. -- Shenan Stanley MS-MVP -- How To Ask Questions The Smart Way http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html |

You can't download a sound card any more than you could download a keyboard or a mouse. -- Ken Blake - Microsoft MVP Windows: Shell/User Please reply to the newsgroup > or do I have to have the > I,T tectinition put one in the computer, can someone advise me, I am > new to using computers.I am sorry I can,t answer your problem Heather > I am with a new computer like you thanks. > >> Hi all.... >> >> Tech who built this is away, but it is baffling him also.
