Default Re: I.E. Problem

Hi,
Internet Explorer is an integral part of Windows XP. Attempts to uninstall
IE6 via Add/remove programs XP simply remove access to IE.

It's almost certain that another program, probably malware, is causing this
problem.

If running XP SP2, try IE> Tools> Manage add-ons. Disable non-microsoft
add-ons to see if one of them is the culprit.
Or run BHODemon 2.0 from http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3550.html The
offender may simply be a BHO.

Then you should also download, update and run Ad-aware, Spybot and (if
running WinXP) MS Anti-Spyware (Beta.)

Some malware must be removed manually. You may have to register and post a
HijackThis log to one of these forums for additional help. Look for the
proper forum and an "Important- Read This First" message so that you follow
proper procedure.

Or...
A legitimate program running in the background may be causing this. Disable
(for diagnostic purposes) programs such as pop-up blockers, security,
toolbars and other add-ons for IE, anti-virus, etc. Take a look at any
program that might be interfering with IE. You may have to reinstall, or not
reinstall, a program.

Hope this helps,
Don
