Default recording problems

The problem i am having is i can record any sound from my pc.But when
playing back it is quiet(yes i have turned the volume up,and adjusted
settings ) i have used a number of different recording devices
including Sound Recorder built into my pc.
what i have noticed is i can not adjust my input monitor in my volume
control for some reason it is not turned on .
does any one know how i can turn the input monitor on so i can adjust
it.
i have tried every thing including adjusting the settings in the
recorders.

cheers from the northeast

ps

i can play music on my pc ,and the sound is spot on. i did think it was
my sound card at 1st so i phoned dell ,and they said if it was my sound
card causing the problem i wouldn't be to hear anything at all.

i am using windows xp media centre

Default Re: recording problems

Hi, northeast
I think you can check it as the follow steps:
Open the voice control make sure the microphone is not silence, and then
turn into the microphone's advanced control, make sure the "mic boost" is
choosed.
